Hello
I'm Dr Kelly Leech, a Clinical Psychologist with a PhD, dedicated to helping people understand themselves, process trauma, and build more fulfilling lives. I combine evidence-based therapy with a compassionate, parts-based approach that considers how trauma impacts the brain and nervous system.
My Professional Journey
I began my studies at the University of Nottingham (UK) and moved to Australia to complete a Master's and PhD at Bond University. My doctoral research explored interoceptive awareness and its role in PTSD, focusing on how awareness of internal bodily signals can influence trauma-related symptoms and recovery.

Professionally, my experience spans across inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, providing bother individual and group therapy. I also served as Assistant Clinic Director at Bond University, where I lectured, mentored students and supervised provisionally registered and clinically endorsed psychologists.

In private practice, I focus on the treatment of trauma-related disorders, helping clients navigate complex experiences and develop practical tools for self-regulation, emotional integration, and resilience.
My Professional Journey
My Therapeutic Approach
I work from a parts-based framework, helping clients understand the different aspects of themselves and how trauma shapes the mind and body. My approach blends multiple modalities, including:

- Schema Therapy
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- CBT, DBT, and ACT techniques.

Every approach is tailored to the individual, ensuring therapy is both effective and personally meaningful.
Beyond Psychology
Outside of work, I love staying active through exercise, fitness events and swimming. I also enjoy outdoor adventures with my children, travelling, reading and, of course, coffee. These activities keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance, curiosity, and self-care.
